Michalik takes on alternatives at HSBC AM

Thorsten Michalik has been promoted to CEO of HSBC Asset Management’s alternatives business.

Based in London, he replaces Joanna Munro and reports to Nicolas Moreau, CEO of HSBC AM.

HSBC AM holds US$878 billion in assets under management as of 31 December 2025.

Michalik has more than 25 years of industry experience and has been with HSBC AM since 2019. Most recently, he was CEO of Europe, UK and Americas.

Matteo Pardi, CEO of continental Europe, has taken over this role on an interim basis.

Moreau commented, “We’re confident [Thorsten] will build on this momentum and lead our alternatives platform into its next phase of growth as we invest in our business. As client demand for alternative investments continues to grow, we remain focused on expanding our capabilities and delivering differentiated solutions for investors.”
