abrdn head of EMEA equity dealing set to depart

Derek McCole, who has been with the firm for 22 years, will be leaving his role with the firm, BEST EXECUTION can reveal.

Head of equity dealing for EMEA, McCole leads a team of 11 traders based in London and Edinburgh, covering UK, European and emerging markets across both active and quant strategies. He also has responsibility for the firm’s Asia Pacific equity dealing desk.

McCole joined Aberdeen Asset Management in London in 2001, spending 10 years in London before moving to Singapore as Head of dealing Asia Pacific, and relocating back to the UK five years later as head of equity dealing EMEA, based in Edinburgh.

Prior to joining the group, he worked on the centralised dealing desk at Aviva Investors, on the sell side at NatWest Markets/Bankers Trust, and in the investment services department at the Bank of Scotland.

McCole reports to Louise Drummond, global head of investment execution at abrdn. His replacement is not yet confirmed.
