John Pryde has been appointed managing director and head of US electronic trading at CIBC Capital Markets, based in New York.
Pryde has been with CIBC Capital Markets since 2010. He has held senior electronic and algorithmic trading roles in Toronto, London, and New York.
He is now responsible for US electronic trading alongside international sales and business development, covering institutional clients including hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, asset managers and broker-dealers across equities, futures, options, and e-FX.
As of March 2025, CIBC was the 5th largest Canadian bank by tier 1 capital held at US$ 36bn. It reported third quarter global markets earning of CAD$911m, highlighting the strength of its equity trading business.
Before joining CIBC, Pryde spent five years at TD Securities as vice president in electronic and algorithmic trading.
