Juan Landazabal takes on investments COO role at GAM Investments

After almost two years as global head of the investment platform, Landazabal has been promoted to the position of investments COO – a role he started in November 2023, though has only just confirmed publicly. 

The role is responsible for leading the functions supporting the investment management and wealth management businesses at GAM Investments: driving the design, embedding, reporting and continual improvement of GAM’s Investment Management Oversight Framework, a key pillar of GAM’s three lines of defence. 

Landazabal will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s global trading function as well as the investment support, research management and investments business management team. He will represent all aspects of the investment functions for internal stakeholders, committees and boards, and will also be responsible for internal audit as well as external regulators, auditors, consultants and clients.

He was global head of trading at GAM Investments from 2018-22, prior to which he was global head of fixed income and FX trading at DWS Investments for almost five years. Prior to that he was with Fidelity Investments for nine years, first as senior credit trader and latterly as head of fixed income trading. He has held previous roles with BBVA and Santander.
